The Healthcare Accounting team is seeking a creative thinker to document, assess, and drive process improvements for financial transaction processes and controls.Controllership Operations plays a key role in leading risk and control due diligence, financial statement accuracy and completeness while enabling dynamic reporting for business decisions. This highly visible role supports the US Commercial Chief Accounting Officer and other members of the Accounting Senior Leadership team. The position also regularly interfaces with areas outside of Commercial Healthcare including Evernorth, HealthSpring, Corporate Accounting and Internal Audit. Based on analysis of the existing process and control environment, this position will work with various business leaders to develop structure and discipline for reporting increasingly material business lines and connect with key stakeholders in a complex global structure.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze and evaluate financial processes to identify risks of financial transaction misstatements, existence and effectiveness of control activities, and create recommendations and key actions to remediate unacceptable levels of risk


• Actively partner with both the production and project teams to understand business and financial processes


• Act as a control and risk analysis resource to the accounting team for new initiatives and projects


• Develop and foster strong collaboration, value others perspectives and be inquisitive


• Independently manage Controllership projects


• Assess the controls impacts of new technology and business process initiatives within the US Commercial segment.


• Ability to identify and expose business opportunities and implications when re-engineering existing processes or projects

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information technology, or related field; MBA preferred.


• Minimum of 8 years accounting experience.Auditing or Sarbanes-Oxley experience preferred.


• Requires in-depth understanding of accounting principles, control procedures, and audit standards, practices and techniques.


• Must be able to shift comfortably between micro and macro, desk level discussions, and senior leader report-outs


• Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and establish a high level of credibility across lines of business and organizational levels


• Highly motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency and shows initiative. Learns quickly and is open to change.


• Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to speed in new business areas and new types of projects


• Understanding of information technology, including experience with automated business process controls and IT dependent controls, is a plus.
