Associate Category Manager, Best Buy Business at Best Buy

Job Description:

The Associate Category Manager is responsible for driving category strategies at the category and vertical levels to achieve channel growth initiatives, with the primary goal of maximizing sales and margin. This team facilitates the relationships with the Best Buy Merchant team and is responsible for category/vertical vendor strategy and fulfillment partner designation and selection across consumer & commercial-grade products sourced from vendor or fulfillment partners.

In this role, you will develop category assortment strategies, identify key vendors, determine strategic pricing cadence, and create go to market plans. Additionally, you will strategically drive and maintain vendor relationships, and partner with cross-functional teams to mobilize against established strategies. Sales support is a critical function in this role; driving solutions, negotiating on large opportunities, identifying emerging markets and categories are all critical responsibilities.

What you'll do


  • Directly responsible for building Category Strategy that will be implemented across Best Buy Business cross-functional team (Marketing, Training, Operations, etc.)

  • Primary Best Buy Business contact for both Vendors and internal cross-functional partners across day-to-day interactions and monthly / quarterly business rhythms across Best Buy Business

  • Responsible for assortment, pricing, and promotional strategy across Best Buy Business channel

  • Weekly /monthly business performance management

  • Identify and lead strategic initiatives across Best Buy Business cross-functional team (Sales, Operations, etc)

  • Actively support sales opportunities across customer and vendor-specific opportunities

Basic qualifications
  • 4 + years experience in Merchandising / Supply Chain / .com merchandising / B2B Category Management including Vendor Management and skill in negotiating contracts and terms
Preferred qualifications

  • 3+ years supporting a direct sales team

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business

  • 3 years business to business experience

  • 2+ years' retail management experience
