SUMMARY

The Director of Infrastructure is a senior member of the IT leadership team, reporting to the Vice-President of Information Technology. The director will be responsible for the strategy and execution of Subaru's overall technical infrastructure. This role will require extensive experience in modernizing and supporting IT Infrastructure environments and strengthening security controls and practices. In addition, the director will provide leadership (management, mentoring, and career development) to a team of IT managers (Service Desk, Infrastructure, Network, and Database managers) and their staff. The director will partner with other IT directors to develop the overall IT strategy and roadmap in support of Subaru's mission and core objectives while providing leadership, vision, and management to the entire IT department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develops an annual business plan and operating budget for the department and monitors the implementation of these to ensure that the financial targets are met.
  • Takes a leadership role in defining best practice processes throughout Subaru and works closely with all IT team members, and both internal and external business partners.
  • Be responsible for performance, availability, and scalability of the Subaru infrastructure.
  • Embraces and helps push the adoption of a multi-cloud environment and assists in the design of the cloud strategy that will optimize business outcomes, including speed, resilience, and agility.
  • Ensures there is strong resilience designed and built into on-prem and hybrid cloud architectures to protect Subaru from cybersecurity threats including ransomware.
  • Drives digital transformation throughout the IT organization and helps identify opportunities to migrate workloads from on-prem to cloud environments. Directs, manages, and is accountable for the activities and operations of the IT Department that include motivating staff, administering the budget, and maintenance of physical facilities.
  • Functions as department head in the absence of the Chief Information Officer.
  • Negotiates service level agreements with service providers, internal and external customers while monitoring service delivery to ensure the agreed targets and standards are met.
  • Schedules major projects while gaining approval for the IT resources identified in project plan that are required to meet the defined business objectives.
  • Directs the planning, production, and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards relating to information and telecommunication systems.
  • Conducts staff meetings & determines outcome of personnel situations using appropriate discretion in concert with HR advice and respect for the individual.
  • Supervises all major vendor interactions that include the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, and service agreements.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Demonstrates Senior IT Management experience driving & defining complex IT strategy.
  • Must be able to work to aggressive deadlines while remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
  • Demonstrates a positive and proactive attitude, taking the initiative in ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the expected quality.
  • Exhibits collaborative, "customer-focused" approach when partnering the application teams for project delivery.
  • Demonstrates management experience with budgets in the range of $4-10 million.
  • Effectiveness in presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
  • Effective project management skills to lead multiple IT disciplines that include software development, technical support, systems architecture, etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of computer systems, applications, operating systems, data security, and cyber security.
  • Academic background & professional studies in Computer Science or related field.
  • Negotiating and collaboration skills with third party IT business partners.
  • Advanced decision making and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: B A/BS in Computer Science, Business, or related field with 12+ years of relevant experience

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 15-30%

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

JOB GRADE: D2

SALARY RANGE: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $146,900 - $209,800. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
