Job Description


  • Nemours is seeking a full-time (0.75 FTE) Registered Nurse for our 3 East Hematology/Oncology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy Unit. BSN prepared required and previous pediatric hematology oncology experienced preferred but not required.
  • Schedule consists of 60 hours every two weeks, 12 hr rotating shifts or full time Nights, holiday requirement, and every third weekend requirement.

3 East is a 24-bed unit has been designated as the Hematology/Transplant and Cellular Therapy and Endocrine unit for the Nemours/ Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. This step-down unit provides inpatient care for pediatric patients requiring services from the Hematology/ Oncology, Transplant and Cellular Therapy, and Endocrine subspecialties. Admitting diagnoses include but are not limited to leukemia, lymphoma, brain tumors, neuroblastomas, solid organ malignancies, sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, diabetes, and other types of genetic and immune disorders. In addition, stem cell and bone marrow donors are cared for on this unit. The type of patient care provided in this area is complex due to patient diagnosis, the intensity of therapy, the criticality of patient condition, and the extensive patient/family issues that necessitate nursing intervention.

3 East nurses are responsible for coordinating patient care as part of an inter-professional team. Nurses are required to be competent in the care of the newly diagnosed endocrine patient, and hematology, oncology, pre-, peri-, and post- transplant and cellular therapy patient including the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy. Competency is established and maintained through an internal educational process. All registered nurses on 3East must successfully complete and maintain the National APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Course, the APHON BBMT (Blood & Bone Marrow Transplant) Core Curriculum, Hematology and Oncology 101, and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification within one (1) year of hire. Nurses are strongly encouraged to maintain or achieve their specialty certification: CPON (Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse), or CPHON (Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse).

Additional Requirements


    • You must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
    • RN experience required
    • BSN is Required
    • Must be eligible for Delaware State license (or compact license).
    • Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
    • PALS optional but required to obtain after hire

12 hour shifts, Day/night rotating or full time nights
