Primary Job Purpose



The Specialty Product Manager (I, II, III or Senor DOE) is responsible for the ongoing development, management and oversight of the Specialty product portfolio that support the growth of Cambia's health plans through ancillary coverages. This role serves as the primary point of contact for our external ancillary solution partners as well as internal stakeholders, with responsibility for product development activities including defining business requirements, implementing and sustaining the Specialty product roadmap, supporting pricing and budget models, and delivering on go-to-market strategies for competitive positioning for both existing and next-generation product offerings.


The Product Manager job family roles are inherently cross-functional - and require close work and collaboration with counterparts in product development, data science and data engineering, user experience, operations, program, and strategy to ensure all teams are delivering high-quality products that solve real market needs.



General Functions and Outcomes



  • Contribute to the implementation of a long-term Specialty product portfolio vision in collaboration and in coordination with external solutions partners.


  • Manage the product roadmap and prioritization process for ancillary coverages, including defining the deliverables into discrete business requirements; leads product discovery efforts to come up with new and improved solutions for user and business needs.


  • Direct the product management activities for products to meet business, market segmentation and financial goals; understands the target market and primary user needs for products within Specialty portfolio.


  • Synthesize business requirements from multiple sources including or may include vendors, customer segments, healthcare product experts, brokers, and sales teams into required documentation and agile project plans.


  • Manage the product life-cycle of multiple products from planning to tactical activities to cross company go to market planning.


  • Collaborate with Commercial Product Solutions leadership and line of business product managers to develop and deploy strategies for improving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention at a segment and market level.


  • Develop and track a core set of metrics that support the analytical needs of the business, including engagement, performance, customer behavior, conversion and usability.


  • Use data to shape product design decisions and launch and empower tracking the effectiveness of change; track product profitability and enrollment as metrics of success.


  • Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks at multiple levels for timely resolution; anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.


  • Operate with a high level of autonomy, designing work plans, resource requirements, and organizational strategies required to accomplish necessary analysis and decision-making.


  • Collaborate with marketing team to develop and execute product marketing plans.


  • Continuously improve team processes to increase quality and effectiveness.


Minimum Requirements


  • Proven record of creating successful products based on a balance of user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.


  • Concrete experience managing complex products (preferably in healthcare) through a product development lifecycle


  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead teams and build effective working relationships with individuals and groups at all levels.


  • Demonstrated project management skills including effective planning, organizing, and administration of multi-functional work responsibilities.


  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize features and enhancements, and are data driven.


  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including formal presentations and the facilitation of group planning sessions.


  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize findings, prepare reports, create executive level documents and recommend solutions.


  • Demonstrated track record in developing and managing highly successful products for healthcare preferred.


  • Experience with analytics, forecasting, and developing business cases.


  • Ability to negotiate and resolve issues with diplomacy and persuasiveness.


  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams.


  • Ability to operate independently to navigate organizational complexities and to obtain resources needed to move initiatives forward.


  • Ability to write executive level documents and make executive level presentations.


  • Demonstrated excellent attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in parallel.


  • Ability to learn new technology concepts quickly.


  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired.


  • Analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases. Ability to clearly communicate these data insights to others through written and other forms of documentation.

  • Strong sense of market priorities and ability to appropriately push back against group think that will negatively impact company position in market place or marketability of the portfolio.


  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, business, and market trends (including the competitive landscape).


  • High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously


  • Experience managing complex products with multiple end-user and purchaser persona and stakeholders.


  • Ability to develop and lead cross divisional processes and clearly articulate complex information to achieve common goals.


  • Ability to negotiate and resolve complex and sensitive issues with diplomacy and persuasiveness.






  • For technology specific roles:


  • Experience with agile project management of large, cross functional technology or software initiatives.


  • Advanced experience in working with user experience design teams to create compelling products that users love to use.

The Specialty
Product Manager I would have a BA/BS in Business Administration or relevant field with 4+ years' experience in a product management position in healthcare, or equivalent combination of education and experience. For technology specific roles experience in consumer-facing software & services or a start-up environment preferred.


The Specialty
Product Manager II would have a BA/BS in Business Administration or relevant field with 6+ years' experience in a product management position in healthcare or equivalent combination of education and experience. For technology specific roles experience in consumer-facing software & services or a start-up environment preferred. MBA preferred.


The Specialty
Product Manager III would have a BA/BS in Business Administration or relevant field with 8+ years' experience in a product management position in healthcare, or equivalent combination of education and experience. For technology specific roles experience in consumer-facing software & services or a start-up environment preferred. MBA preferred.


The Specialty Product Manager Senior would have a BA/BS in Business Administration or relevant field with 10+ years' experience in a product management position in healthcare, or equivalent combination of education and experience. For technology specific roles experience in consumer-facing software & services or a start-up environment preferred. Must have experience that aligns directly to the products being managed. MBA preferred.


Work Environment


This role is primarily remote but will have the opportunity to be in office if near one of our offices and occasional travel is expected.


The expected hiring range for a Specialty
Product Manager I is $88,500 - $120,500, for a Specialty
Product Manager II is $107,000 - 145,000 and for a Specialty
Product Manager III is $129,500 - 175,500 and for a Specialty Product Manager Senior is $142,500 - 193,500 depending on skills, experience, education, and training; relevant licensure / certifications; performance history; and work location. The bonus target for the Specialty
Product Manager I - III is 15%and the Specialty
Product Manager Senior is 20%. The current full salary range for the Specialty Product Manager I, is $$83,500 - 136,00 for Specialty
Product Manager I I, is $100,500 - $164,000 for Specialty
Product Manager III is $122,000 - 198,500 and the Specialty
Product Manager Senior is $134,000 - 218,500.
