Responsibilities



The Retail Pharmacy Technician is responsible for preparing and dispensing medications, claim submission and follow-up, working the cash register, understanding patient financial and foundation assistance, and fielding incoming calls. Maintains a clean and safe environment for the storage of drugs. Ability to work in a methodical manner when multiple tasks are required at once. Acts as a resource person for the physicians and staff. Responsible for monitoring an efficient inventory system through appropriate drug ordering policies, coordination of drug needs for other NGOC offices, and accurate monthly inventory count. As the practice and the department change, responsibilities may also change.



Certifications Required: CPHT, PHT

Qualifications



- High school diploma required.


- Graduate from a pharmacy technician course is preferred or 2-3 years' experience in outside retail pharmacy.


- Computer experience required.


- Must be organized and attentive to detail.


- Must be able to work quickly, and but accurately.


- Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written English language.


- Must possess ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Work requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds. Potential exposure to blood and blood products. Potential exposure to cytotoxic drugs. Potential for exposure to communicable illness from contagious patients.
