Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Partner & Tax Accounting, reporting to the Senior Director of Tax, the Partner Tax Accountant will provide support and prepare several types of returns including gross receipts, property and sales tax returns. This position is also responsible for compiling the information needed by the Firm's third-party tax preparers to produce the Federal, multi-state, local and foreign tax deliverables.This position will reside in the Philadelphia office and offers a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.Key responsibilities include:Tax CompliancePrepares annual tax workpapers detailing book/tax differences, state apportionment, foreign tax credit information and information with respect to foreign disregarded entities and foreign branches.Compiles necessary information for reporting quarterly annualized income information to partners for estimated tax payments.Assists in reviewing partner Federal and state Schedule K-1's and related disclosures.Performs tax research as needed to address tax compliance in new areas and/or new domestic jurisdictions.Assists in preparing quarterly nonresident state estimated payments for partners. This includes state pass-through entity payments and composite tax return payments.Assists with the year-end allocation process by compiling annual nonresident state and foreign tax payment information for partners. Prepares Federal taxable income projections and state apportionment factors.Contributes to the analysis of accounts payable invoices to determine if appropriate sales tax accruals have been recorded.Aids in the preparation and filing of various state gross receipts tax returns and property tax returns.Supports gathering information including partner signatures needed for the Firm to obtain an annual US residency certificate from the Internal Revenue Service.Provides support as needed in connection with tax audit examinations.Updates General LedgerPrepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations to ensure the general ledger is accurately reflecting the Firm's tax payments made on behalf of each partner as well as the Firm's entity level tax payments to multiple jurisdictions for several types of taxes.Addresses any discrepancies and resolves the issues in a timely manner.Experience and qualifications:Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting.Minimum of 1 year of tax compliance experience, preferably with Big 4 or regional accounting firm.Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with mathematical aptitude.Detail oriented, highly organized and possesses excellent customer service skills.Qualified candidates must apply online by visiting our website at www.morganlewis.com and selecting "Careers."#LI-Hybrid#LI-HB1Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP is committed to equal employment opportunity and providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with physical and/or mental disabilities.
