Job Summary:
Under moderate supervision, responsible for a variety of work on complex plumbing systems. Work ranges from facility inspections, preventative maintenance rounds, regularly servicing plumbing equipment, major repairs, emergency repairs, remodel work, new exhibit construction work, and any other task as requested. Plumbers are members of the facilities maintenance team and shall support other maintenance personnel and perform other duties as required. Work will be conducted in a way that promotes animal welfare, environmental sustainability, as well as a sustainable culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Core Activities:
Assist senior level plumbers, and work on a team for larger projects.
Troubleshoot plumbing systems.
Repair and install pipes, valves, hangers, gauges, and sensors for fresh water, salt water, pressurized gas, exhaust, venting, sewage, storm water, and animal life support systems.
Perform routine inspections on seawater, domestic water, sanitary sewer systems, hydronic heating, pressurized gas, and venting systems
Perform routine maintenance on plumbing systems.
Utilize work management software to respond to work requests, track jobs progress.
Read plans, make redlines, update plumbing schedules and details.
Maintain plumbing inventory.
Provide regular status reports to supervisors.
Participate in safety and other training as required.
Interface and communicate with other MBA departments.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
3 years recent plumbing experience in a commercial or residential environment or equivalent related experience
Apprentice certificate or equivalent trade school program
10-hour OSHA Safety training
Experience with various types of piping in both small and large diameter
Knowledge of pumps, plumbing equipment, and piping systems
Ability to read and follow plans, schedules, application instructions, and safety procedures
Good computer skills including, but not limited to MS Office suite
Good written and verbal communication and skills
Ability to respond to emergencies and to work an irregular schedule that may include early mornings, nights, evenings, or weekends
Experience working in a safe manner compliant with the California Plumbing Code, UPC, Am Water, AWWA standards, and OSHA
Experience with elevated work, work over water, and work in a confined space
Ability to work within and maintain Monterey Bay Aquarium's Core Values
Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Job Functions:

Schedule:
Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday; on-site role (not a hybrid option); the plumbers usually come in early (much work has to be done before opening). Some flexibility, but usual hours are around 6am-2:30pm. May ask for a Mon-Fri schedule to start, for a training period, if possible.
Hourly Compensation Range:
