Position Overview
As the Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting senior staff and accounting/finance management in the areas of cost accounting, fixed assets, cash, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable/payable, and other general accounting functions
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
Executing core Accounting Department functions and activities
Perform accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensure that it complies with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements
Maintain subledger integrity by enforcing company procedures and internal controls (fixed assets, prepaids, inventory, etc.)
Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete. This includes related analyses and providing supporting documentation and explanations to support reconciliations and journal entries
Review journal entries recommended by FP&A to ensure accuracy and all documentation to support the entry is included
Prepare financial reports and accounting statements so that management has accurate and timely information for making financial decisions
Ensure all documentation of processes is regularly updated
Ensure a solid understanding of the Company's Accounting Practices and ensure they are consistently applied and updated as needed
Ensure a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that may apply to the Company
Prepare timely and accurate reporting of financial information, internally and externally to the required entities
Create assigned financial reports by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data. This will require collaboration with other business areas to gather information and lead financial initiatives of the department
Assist in the timely preparation of all income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for all CCC Holdings and related subsidiaries
Performs monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Ensures financial statements are accurate and complete through review of accounting entries, comparison, or results to plans, review of balance sheet account reconciliations, etc.
Assists with external financial audits including scheduling audits, ensuring proper supporting information is timely prepared for internal use and external auditors and financial statements and footnotes are complete and accurate
Assists with "downhill" financial projections by collecting and/or preparing forecasted balance sheet, cash flow statements, and cost of goods manufactured, as well as reviewing information provided by other business managers
Provides financial summaries and reports and interprets the results of operation to all levels of management
Assists in maximizing return on financial assets by enforcing financial policies, procedures, and controls
Assures protection for the assets of the business through implementation of internal controls and internal auditing
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by reviewing current company policies
Assists in the preparation of the Company's Annual Operating Plan and the Five-Year Strategic Plan process based on goals set by the C.F.O and CEO
Makes recommendations to Accounting Supervisor and Controller regarding cost saving opportunities for G&A
Works with Analysis team to provide Senior Management with division financials in comparison to historical trends, current year estimate, and strategic growth goals
Effectively contribute to cash management strategy to ensure maximum return. This includes reconciling cash accounts, reporting cash balances, reporting on investments, and forecasting cash flows
Participation in other projects as requested by Accounting Manager or Sr. Manager of Accounting & Controller and CFO
Special analysis projects including technical projects, system upgrades, ad-hoc financial analysis, and participation in cross-departmental teams to accomplish defined business goals
Working with a team to implement a new process or solve an operational and/or accounting issue
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college required
At least 1year related fixed asset, accounts receivable, and/or general ledger accounting experience preferred
Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources
CPA or CPA track preferred
Minimum 3.0 GPA required if less than 4 years post graduate experience
CPG Experience a plus
Knowledge of SAP a plus
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
