Scope:

This position functions as an important part of the Global Manufacturing function by providing strategic direction and work planning for manufacturing capability building enterprise wide. The Manufacturing Capabilities Program Leader will provide work direction and drive collaboration with a range of partners including the Global Manufacturing Value Stream, Region Manufacturing, Digital, and Automation teams related to the evolution of manufacturing capability development.  They may also communicate with people outside of these teams, such as with IT, Communications, and HR depending on the scope and timeline of work.

The Manufacturing Capabilities Program Leader is primarily responsible for developing the strategy and execution roadmap to evolve current the Manufacturing Excellence program to support K-C’s Digital Transformation. This includes ensuring that software, Automation, and labor strategies are supported and factored into the capability plans while benchmarking against external sources.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Lead strategy roadmap development and oversee deployment plan execution of Global Manufacturing capabilities including base continuous improvement upskilling, Digital/Automation reskilling, and additional capabilities required in our facilities to drive an evolution in Manufacturing Excellence

  • Lead as the primary supply chain point of contact for the Manufacturing Capability Building strategy with both internal and external partners

  • Lead external benchmarking exercises with partners such as other companies, industry groups, universities, and vendors to understand best-in-class operating practices and to inform manufacturing capabilities road mapping

  • Develop and align critical parties/stakeholders to coordinated execution plan, milestones, and deliverables derived from overall program goals and project/initiative plans

  • Lead cross-functional teams of Value Stream Leaders, Manufacturing Capabilities Leads, Digital/Automation Leads, and Region teams to ensure a synchronized and effective execution

  • Drive overall program performance visibility: identify, solve, and/or escalate potential roadblocks, late deliverables, resource needs, etc. to maintain program timeline and delivery

  • Lead the financial analysis and valuation of all Manufacturing Capabilities initiatives to ensure value-driven approach aligned with GSC/BU capital and F2G pipeline targets

  • Develop and drive alignment to appropriations required for Manufacturing Capabilities tools/systems/software/trainings, etc. based on the strategy roadmap

  • Lead outline, creation, and alignment of Steering Committee/Senior Leader presentation material

  • Actively participate in workstream meetings and problem solves; act as a thought-leader and challenge team to think "full potential" and to deliver an accelerated Transformation

  • Provide leadership and work direction to 2+ Manufacturing Capabilities Leads through indirect reporting relationship with goal of per-plan delivery of joint Mfg. Capabilities objectives

  • Lead development of change management + communications material and deployment plan that ensures success of Mfg. Capabilities roadmap

  • Partner with Digital Transformation, Automation, and DTS leads to ensure Manufacturing Capabilities roadmap and investments are aligned with and in support of each program’s strategic plans

  • Partner with teams such as Legal, HR, and GSC Comms, when necessary, to ensure Mfg. Capabilities changes are aligned with work requirements/regulations across Regions

  • Partner with Global Manufacturing senior leadership team to develop plan for capability building and upskilling within Global Manufacturing team that supports job rotations, growth, and base Manufacturing knowledge

  • Partner with Strategy and Transformation Director to develop Manufacturing Capabilities Fuel to Grow pipeline in Wave tool

Basic Qualifications:


  • Strategic thinking capabilities with ability to connect organizational goals with short-, mid-, and long-term recommendations + action plans

  • Good Manufacturing processes knowledge

  • Ability to transform proof of concept trials/models into scalable solutions

  • Good understanding of digital manufacturing transformation trends

  • Superb communication skills, written and verbal, utilizing a clear and concise manner across various levels of the organization

  • Excellent program, stakeholder, and vendor/partner management skills

  • Excellent business acumen, interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and professional maturity

  • Change management experience (at least Change Agent level)

  • Understanding of key manufacturing cost drivers

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:


  • B.S in Supply Chain, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Operations, or related topics

  • 5 plus years of experience working in a Manufacturing, Engineering, or Supply Chain role with at least 2 plus years of experience working in or with Manufacturing facilities

  • Experience developing and driving execution against a strategic roadmap that connects into larger organizational goals

  • Experience creating and/or deploying professional development programs

  • Experience developing value-driven business cases and recommendation for proof-of-concept work


  • Experience interacting with, presenting to, and driving alignment with senior executive leadership

  • Experience leading teams or organizations through change effectively

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • PowerBI or similar data visualization software experience

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Hands-on Manufacturing or Supply Chain automation/digitalization experience

  • SAP experience

  • Experience in one or more programming languages

  • Advanced degree

Dimensions:

P&E Budget (Capital): To be determined based on road mapping and proof of concept business cases

Personnel: 0 - provides indirect leadership to 2+ Manufacturing Capability Leaders + extended team of 20+ people
