We are currently looking for a Senior Engineer/Project Manager with renewable energy experience or related/transferrable skills looking to transition to renewables to support our growing renewable engineering practice. Our energy practice includes wind, solar, BESS, HV transmission and substations facilities, MV/LV collection systems, natural gas transmission pipelines, gas compressor stations, hydrogen, nuclear, and other energy related facilities and infrastructure. This Senior Engineer/Project Manager will have the opportunity to support other practices within Tetra Tech such as large-scale remediation projects, water reservoir projects and site development projects with infrastructure for commercial development.

For this position location is flexible for the best qualified candidates. Multiple locations and candidates will be considered with a preference in the Midwest and Western US. This can also be a part-time position for the right candidate.

This Senior Engineer/Project Manager will perform, review, and/or supervise engineering analysis, design, and detailing of renewable infrastructures as well as lead and support project teams throughout the design, planning and production of multi-discipline engineering deliverables on a wide variety of projects.

Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and review civil/structural/electrical engineering drawings for a variety of energy projects including, but not limited to renewable energy facilities, pipeline infrastructures, HV transmission, substation and distribution infrastructures and other industrial and commercial facilities.
  • Manage civil/structural/electrical design throughout the entirety of the project lifecycle.
  • Support the development of conceptual and detailed designs for renewable energy facilities.
  • Support subject matter experts with design of renewable energy facilities.
  • Participate on companywide employee groups dedicated to the growth of our Modern Energy and Renewable Energy practices.
  • Support design and permitting for project needs set forth by the project managers or other engineering professionals.
  • Support field investigation activities including condition surveys, field measurement and data collection, and use of global positioning systems.
  • Other duties may include performing conceptual/detailed engineering calculations, preparing reports and presentations, preparing and optimizing standard engineering details, CAD design, performing and reviewing engineering calculations, conducting field support and site visits.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 15+ years' experience.
  • P.E. or S.E. license or ability to become licensed within two years is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate this information and respond to questions from clients, coworkers, company leadership, and members of the public.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and practices, construction specifications, procedures, means and methods, and documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable discipline specific engineering software.
  • Self-motivated and driven with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Must have a valid driver license and be able to pass the company DMV check to be a Tetra Tech-qualified driver of corporate/rental vehicles.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test in compliance with state regulations.

Other Desirable Skills and Qualifications:


  • Strong working knowledge of commonly used engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, and procedures within the renewable energy services industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering standards, design codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the full life cycle of renewable energy projects form pre-feasibility to decommissioning.
  • Ability to research and compile data, studies, and reports as required by clients.
  • Ability to prepare specifications and other requirements for issue for tenders and construction for renewable energy facilities.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment to deliver projects of varying complexity or products that exceeds client expectations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects including structural, geotechnical, remediation, and/or marine engineering with working knowledge of database programs, GIS, and CAD.
  • Experience preparing decommissioning plans and cost estimates, conducting EMF studies, performing renewable resources assessments, conducting construction monitoring or condition assessment site visits.

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 yr.
