Job Summary

Flagstar Bank is looking for an intern to join our Financial Crimes team over the summer. As a Flagstar Intern you will have the opportunity to learn the daily functions and operations of our Financial Crimes department. During this time, you will interact with team members and leaders to gain real-world experience by working alongside our team to learn our processes and improve efficiencies while expanding on the core concepts introduced throughout your college classes. Throughout your internship you will participate in multiple engagement sessions designed to enhance your career outlook, communication skills, and business knowledge.


The Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) Group within the Financial Crimes department is in need of assistance with completing daily CTR alerts and special projects.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for working CTR alerts which includes processing, editing, preparing, and purging (where applicable) CTRs forms for customers exceeding cash transactions greater than $10,000.00 for filing with FinCEN

  • Performs account/customer inquiries in DNA and FCRM to validate customer information and review customer transactions

  • Assists with Group Entity Review and Monetary Instrument monthly review

  • Save Nautilus reports to the CTR share drive

  • Special projects as needed




Job Requirements:



  • HS Diploma, GED or Foreign Equivalent Required

  • Current student or recent graduate pursing a major in Criminal Justice or Accounting preferred

  • Beginner skills in the following: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • Ability to conduct research

  • Motivated to learn and improve operational processes

  • Able to demonstrate solid writing and verbal communication skills

  • Highly organized and have a strong attention to detail

  • Adjusts positively to quickly-changing priorities and shifting goals in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong numeric and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to manage projects in an effective and productive manner
