About the Job
Medical Technician performs all medical diagnostic tests on patients. He or she works with patients who have or are at risk of developing eye diseases such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and retinal tears. Technicians are highly trained medical professionals who work directly with the patients, optometrists, and other clinic personnel to deliver excellent patient experience. Duties & Responsibilities * Calling and scheduling patients for diagnostic testing * Verifying medical Insurance; pulling authorizations * Performing patient testing as referred to by Optometrists; ability to use various diagnostic equipment (Visual Fields, OCT, GDX, Retinal Imaging Fundus, Pachymetry, etc.) * Informing Optometrist and patient when the results come in * Placing reminder calls to patients for yearly testing * Miscellaneous office duties (filing charts, copying, scanning, cleaning equipment, etc.)
Qualifications
* High School Diploma * Experience with optical testing equipment preferred * Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred * Experience with HIPAA requirements preferred * Basic computer literacy and data entry * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Strong communication skills (verbal and written) * Excellent customer service skills and pleasant demeanor * Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination * Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
