The Category Lead under Procurement will proactively interact with their assigned business units to maximize the utilization of their third-party providers. This includes managing the contract lifecycle, including renewals, renegotiations, and terminations of services. The Category Lead needs to understand the needs of the business, as it relates to the bank, obtain the best-in-class third-party provider at the best rates. Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this role. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills to partner with the business units, including executive members, subject matter experts and the third-party to deliver best cost savings, quality of service, and value to the bank.



  • Partner with business units to understand their needs from third-party providers.

  • Source third-party providers that business units need in order to perform required business activities.

  • Negotiate contracts with third-party providers, including pricing, terms and conditions, services levels and penalties, to help ensure that such contracts align with bank standards.

  • Drives the RFP process for sourcing events and involves business unit personnel, subject matter experts and executives, as necessary.

  • Proactively provide insight and general trends in the market to business units to help drive best in class processes for third-party services.

  • Manage the contract lifecycle for third-party providers, which includes initial contract negotiation and execution, contract renewal negotiation and execution, and contract termination when necessary

  • Continually evaluate spend information to look for cost saving opportunities and evaluate champion / challenger scenarios regarding the bank's supplier population.

  • Serve as liaison between the third-party and the business unit during selection of services, negotiations and ending of services.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience with managing the full contract management lifecycle process including procure-2-pay activities

  • Proficient with running various sourcing events

  • Strong contract negotiating skills required

  • Working knowledge within the financial industry is a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required

  • Team player skills essential

  • Strong analytical, business process analysis and problem-solving capabilities

  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite required

  • Demonstrated experience to form and maintain good working relationships with a wide network of internal and external stakeholders; some at senior levels

  • Experience using a Procurement system to perform procurement functions.

  • Experience with Coupa is a plus
