About the role

The Director of Eyecare Operations is responsible for assisting in Developing Operational Strategy and Implementing programs that positively impact/support the optometrists and practices to drive Top Line Revenue while Protecting the Bottom Line. Build collaborative relationships with VP Eyecare, Sr Eyecare Directors (SECD), OD schedulers, OD recruiters, OD training, field leadership and optometrists. Partner with VP, Eyecare to assist with managing OD compensation plans, turnover tracking, survey action plans, and overall OD communication. Assist in managing the information flow regarding the use of best practices and practice management tools to all employed optometrists and staff. Promote and ensure collaborative operations / optometric relationships that result in business growth, quality health care, and a positive work environment. Strive to constantly improve overall customer /patient satisfaction (NPS).


  • Creates and maintains eyecare/OD programs and systems that deliver a high level of patient satisfaction (NPS)

  • Develops Operational Strategies to assist in managing OD compensation - Bonus Programs, turnover tracking, calculates ROI on OD pay, analyzes OD labor and identifying issues, sets OD payroll allocations, develops OD payroll comparisons by geographic market, and tracks OD replacement costs

  • OD contracts -- partners with SECDs and field leaders to track OD contracts and assist in OD risk assessments

  • OD communication -- Handles all ODs requests regarding pay, bonuses, production true up, AEG U OD comp tool, compensation plans, credentialing, vendors etc. Partners with Sr. Mgr Ops Svcs to distribute OD memos and other communications

  • OD recruitment -- assists OD recruiters to track recruiting KPIs (days to fill, additional coverage vs replacement, % of open positions, etc)

  • New Acquisitions -- reviews all new OD contracts and sends summary to field leader and SECD

  • People Operations -- partners with People Operations to track turnover by SECD, practice and vintage. Partners with SECDs to develop OD survey action plans

  • Develops and tracks standard KPIs for adding patient availability. Assist SECDs with patient availability meetings

  • Coordinates and develops content for monthly eyecare meetings in partnership with VP eyecare

  • Develops strategy, processes and constantly looks to improve existing eyecare processes

  • May be asked to lead/assist with Operations related projects not listed in this description

  • Supports the ODs/SECDs/Field Leaders as needed

Qualifications


  • College degree is preferred and/or a strong track record of achievement in optometrist operations environment

  • Minimum 5 years optical industry experience

  • Solid Microsoft Office Ability (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Excellent analytical, verbal, presentation, and written communication skills

  • Strong communicator and listener

  • Problem solving ability

  • Works well under pressure, meets deadlines, is very organized and responsive

  • Operates well in ambiguity and uses sound judgement

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
