This position serves as campus receptionist/operator and provides support to the Office of Communications.
Essential Functions:
Maintains an updated automated voice system directory for the college.
Answers and routes telephone calls to proper individuals and departments.
Monitors telephone call volume and develops reports.
Serves as college receptionist directing students and visitors to appropriate areas.
Monitors campus-wide phone greetings and voicemail usage.
Performs various clerical tasks.
Supplemental Functions:
Enters calendar items for online website calendar.
Logs and tracks projects in the Communications Office project management system.
Provides support in maintaining and updating the college's websites, including www.ColumbiaState.edu, myChargerNet, and other digital channels.
Responsible for the College's digital signage, including slide design and timely updates of the building directories.
Clips and archives news articles for Communications Office.
Creates purchase requisitions for Communications Office.
Assists Communications Office with calendar scheduling and coordinating for meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years secretarial experience
or
Associates Degree and 2 years secretarial experience.
Education, Training and Experience Preferred:
Telephone techniques training and receptionist experience.
Experience in a college setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Work Characteristics:
Outstanding ability to communicate via telephone or in person that demonstrates a culture of caring and personal assistance.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
Ability to operate a computerized phone system.
Ability to speak in a clear and distinct voice.
Ability to perform clerical tasks in a Microsoft Office Suite PC environment.
Knowledge of current office practices, procedures and equipment.
Ability to work with diverse students, faculty, staff and community members.
Ability to work as a team member.
Multi-task oriented.
Ability to work with diverse customer service needs.
Working knowledge of higher education operations.
Working Conditions:
Work 37.5 hours per week with the flexibility to work over-time during peak periods.
Sitting and typing.

Some lifting and reaching (to place boxes on shelves).

Visual and hand usage of PC.
Hiring Salary Range: $29,090 - $34,900
