Description:
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Pathology and/or Laboratory Medicine. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board Certified and Board Eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology or another pathology-related specialty.
Responsibilities may include the following for clinical-focused Instructor; clinical services within Pathology (subspecialty), teaching medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the subspecialties at Penn Medicine (HUP, PPMC, PAH) as well as participation in lectures, small groups, workshops, and/or didactic sessions.
Responsibilities may include the following for research-focused Instructor; research in Pathology-related areas as determined by PI, Vice Chair or Chair. Participation in lab and/or departmental meetings and didactics may be required, as well as providing presentations on research activities as necessary. The successful applicant will gain research experience in Pathology and will be funded by the department or departmental sponsored program.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop an individual training experience in research skills and teaching, while developing a career in an academic setting.
