Responsibilities

This position is responsible for performing professional accounting work of a complex nature and monitoring the business activities of the College of Law/University Business Administrators through maintenance & control of financial records.

  • Monitors the procurement and travel activities of the College of Law through maintenance and control of financial records.
  • Ensures University compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations as well as a sound environment of internal controls and compliance by monitoring and reviewing transactional processes.
  • Responsible for reviewing and recommending policies and procedures to ensure the enhancement of services, interprets and communicates policies to management, faculty, and staff providing recommendations to support the mission and initiatives of College of Law while maintaining compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Identifies potential business process issues and sets systems into place to improve workflow and quality of work.
  • Provides procurement and P-card support including the processing of requisitions, purchase orders, P-card purchases, ePRFs, and contracts.
  • Audits cash collection transactions to ensure that cash collection rules, regulations, and procedures of the University are adhered to and applied.
  • Proxies p-card transactions and performs the monthly p-card reconciliation's for assigned cards.
  • Ensures transactions are timely and accurately with the appropriate accounting information, description and follow State and University policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reports for College of Law administration and team executive boards.
  • Assists with the American Bar Association Report, US News Report, and various other periodic fiscal reports.
  • Prepares departmental deposits and tracks royalty earnings for the Law Journals. Analyzes, verifies, and performs financial reconciliations for auxiliary funds. Prepares monthly sales tax reports. Calculates and recommends auxiliary rates for the Law Journals. Works with auxiliary staff to maintain compliance and improve business processes.
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day processing of travel authorizations, cash advances, expense reports, and non-travel reimbursements for the College of Law.
  • Spearheads training for new travelers and/or returning travelers in anticipation for peak travel seasons.
  • Prepares financial reports to advises on activities by analyzing travel trends, providing information, and recommending suggestions to management.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships throughout the university to attain college and department goals and objectives. Coordinates and/or serves on committees for planning and implementing activities and events.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree and two years of work experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)



  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Experience prioritizing, organizing, and performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Past experience with purchasing and procurement. Strong problem solving skills.

Preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of fiscal control systems.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and private sources for contract and grant funds.

Anticipated Salary Range

Upper $30,000s to low $40,000s commensurate with education and experience.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
