Job Description Summary
We are looking for highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic individual excited about doing multi-omics research in cancer and normal tissues in high risk individuals.
Job Description
The specialist will be closely working with the Principal Investigator and other lab members on publication-generating projects. The primary project will be to analyze normal breast tissue coming from BRCA1/2 mutation carriers, using multi-omics analyses. This individual will plan and perform experiments, which entail the use of cutting-edge molecular techniques, such as single cell RNA, DNA and ATAC sequencing. The individual also will be involved in other projects analyzing the tumor microenvironment, so an understanding of immunology is beneficial. The individual should be facile in laboratory-based techniques, such as tissue dissociation, single cell sequencing, cell culture, massively parallel sequencing, and flow cytometry. S/he also should be interested in bioinformatics analysis, with either some experience in the field or a willingness and interest in learning about it, with the goal of doing independent analyses. It is expected that the research specialist will have high level of independence, able to multi-task, demonstrate initiative and be able to lead on projects. The research specialist will work in an environment that is team oriented, where creativity, enthusiasm and dedicated effort are highly rewarded. This position may involve work on weekends and University holidays.
Job duties:
Tissue disassociation, single cell sequencing
General molecular biology (gel electrophoresis, western blot, PCR, ELISA, etc) and flow cytometry
DNA/RNA extraction, massively parallel sequencing
Data analysis and presentations
General lab maintenance and organization
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
