Tenure-Track Epidemiology Faculty Position

Program in Epidemiology

We seek a tenure-track faculty member specializing in epidemiology at the rank of assistant or associate professor to join an award-winning faculty at a time of growth and expansion for the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences. The preferred research focus should broadly involve the application of epidemiology methods to enhancing clinical and translational research that addresses disparities related to diseases such as aging, environmental health, chronic disease, maternal-child health, pharmacoepidemiology or other related areas.

Primary responsibilities will include conducting nationally visible, externally funded research, teaching graduate courses in epidemiology methods and in an epidemiology concentration area, supervising and mentoring graduate students, and university service. Candidates should have an earned Ph.D., Dr.P.H., or Sc.D. in epidemiology or a closely related field or an M.D. or D.V.M. with an M.P.H. from an accredited school of public health and postdoctoral experience is preferred. At the assistant professor rank, candidates must demonstrate the potential for an externally fundable and nationally prominent line of research. At the associate professor rank the candidate must have an active program of research at the time of appointment. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Program in Epidemiology was founded in 2018 and includes graduate students pursuing an M.P.H. in Epidemiology and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology. The Program provides an environment that supports and fosters the development of productive, high-quality, and interdisciplinary research.

The College of Health Sciences is a dynamic, innovative academic unit with more than 3,400 undergraduate and graduate students and 131 faculty, who are nationally recognized leaders across multiple disciplines. The College is housed in multiple buildings on the traditional main campus, but also is an anchor tenant of the University's Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. STAR has become an exciting center that combines business, research and education, focused on leading topics in health science, biopharmaceuticals, data science, engineering, finance and other cross-cutting fields of study. In addition to Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (ranked #5 according to the National Academy of Kinesiology), the College also includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Epidemiology, Medical and Molecular Sciences, Physical Therapy (ranked #1 by US News and World Report), and the School of Nursing. With annual research expenditures of approximately $19.5 million, the college currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants with significant funding from the NIH and DoD. The college boasts strong research teams in the areas of neurological disorders, cardiovascular health, and other chronic disease conditions, as well as rehabilitation science and concussion.
