Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Building Manager, the Facilities Operations Technician assists with the daily operations of Thayer's facilities. Serves as the primary shipping and receiving coordinator. Will serve as a backup technician in the Thayer Instrument Room.


Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

High School plus 3+ years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience


Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:



  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

  • 3 years of shipping/receiving and inventory management experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.

  • Working knowledge of copy room/printing services.

  • Prior building maintenance experience and familiarity with basic hand and power tools.

  • Some experience in electronics, computer setup, and business.

  • Experience working and partnering with a diverse population.

  • Forklift Certification within 90 days of job entry date.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Description:

Shipping/Receiving


  • Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.

  • Receives, logs, and coordinates distribution of internal package deliveries.

  • Collaborates and communicates with faculty, staff, logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.

  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.

  • Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables.

  • Works with Dartmouth's Environmental Health and Safety on Thayer's chemical inventory program.

Facilities Operations


  • Assists facilities staff with office moves and function set-ups.

  • Performs minor repairs on building components.

  • Installs or removes office components as requested by faculty and staff.

  • Assists Building Manager with coordination of building renovation projects.

  • Performs moves adds/changes to data structured cabling system.

Instrument Room Operations


  • Issues instruments, equipment, and supplies to students, faculty, and staff from instrument room inventory.

Copy Center Services


  • Provides copy room coverage when needed.
