Responsibilities
The School of Education invites applications for a nine-month faculty position as Instructor of Human Performance and Recreation. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to design curriculum, teach (face-to-face and online) a wide variety of human performance and recreation related courses, assist with the establishment of internship opportunities for undergraduate students, and supervise internships. S/he will provide strong academic advisement, conduct socially significant research, and pursue external funding to support initiatives. The instructor will: provide service to the internal and external University community, including the profession of Human Performance and Recreation. S/he will serve on University and School of Education committees; maximize opportunities to initiate growth in and secure internal and external grant funding; and perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by the supervisor and/or Dean.
Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Human Performance and Recreation or closely-related discipline is preferred. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of teaching experience (college level teaching preferred). Coaching experience (college or professional preferred); coaching certifications preferred; active engagement in Human Performance and Recreation and professional coaching associations preferred; experience advising, recruiting, and retaining students; experience developing curriculum and facilitating programmatic growth; supervisory experience with interns.
