Support students, faculty, and staff by providing circulation desk direction and supporting library services. Assist with the coordination and implementation of services specifically designed for library users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate with library administration to create, evaluate, and promote innovative new library services and resources
Together with library administration and librarians, assist in the drafting and maintenance of the library collection development policy.
Assess purchasing requests in conjunction with other librarians.
Assumes the lead in supervising library circulation activities, including maintaining schedules and assisting with the supervision of student workers.
Assumes the lead in preserving and organizing SUCOL historical materials including responding to requests for archival information and materials, offering archival tours, overseeing receipt of donated materials, and maintaining appropriate environmental conditions for resource preservation.
Processes collections according to accepted archival standards and procedures.
Creates the policies and procedures in archives.
Possesses historical knowledge of SUCOL, the Florida Military Academy and the Rolyat Hotel.
Digitizes and preserves archival materials.
Assists in preparing law library displays.
Assist in various law library programs including collection assessment and development, materials preservation, classroom presentations, webcasts, and the creation and updating of bibliographies, webliographies and topical legal research pathfinders.
Assist in special law library projects identified by the Law Library Director.
Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
J.D. from an ABA accredited school and/or MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited library school required. Minimum two (2) years law school library experience preferred. Should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Presentation skills, a plus. Must possess a strong customer service outlook with the ability to work as a positive team player collaboratively with co-workers and customers. Good organization skills, detail-oriented with excellent follow-through, use of sound judgment and the ability to meet deadlines are required.
