GENERAL SUMMARY: The Lead Mammography Technologist, insures efficiency and continuity in the day-to-day operation of the Breast Center. Serves as facilitator and coordinator of the workflow. When Manager is unavailable, is capable of coordinating repairs to all mammography units, stereotactic units, Dexa units, ultrasound units, CAD reader and viewer, and all office equipment, including computers and printers throughout the department. When Manager is unavailable, capable of facilitating requests from referring physicians and surgeons. Oversees our commitment to excellence in customer service is carried out throughout the daily work. Operates all equipment located in the Breast Center for the purposes of performing diagnostic exams. This includes needle localizations under stereotactic and mammographic guidance, stereotactic breast biopsies, biopsies and localizations under sono guidance, and Dexa scans according to physician orders. When the QC Technologist is unavailable, capable of conducting daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly QC testing and assurance of all Mammography equipment. Insures compliance with all the terms and conditions of the Mammography Quality Standards Act. Works closely and cooperatively with the Director of Breast Imaging; the Manager, Sibley Center for Breast Health; and the Breast Center staff. Participates in quality improvement efforts.


Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Weekend work not required.



Minimum Education and Experience:

1. Advanced mammography registration (ARRT,M), and certification in DEXA modality preferred.
2. Proficient in interventional procedures (stereotactic biopsy, sonographic biopsy and needle localization).
3. Minimum of 3 years experience with Mammography programs.
