The Medical Assistant ensures the coordination, facilitation, and delivery of quality patient care at Sibley Memorial Hospital in support of members of the Sibley Physicians Group (SPG). Through skilled triage and assessment, education, collaboration and coordination of healthcare and community resources, the Medical Assistant assists patients to achieve optimum functional health status and quality of life.
Location: Washington D.C.
Full time, M-F
8am-4:30pm
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Certified Nursing Assistance license or equivalent, comparable training/job experience and ability to demonstrate needed skills.
3. CPR training is required; basic life support training/certification.
4. Three (3) years clinical experience of which at least one (1) year preferred to be oncology experience.
5. Knowledge of healthcare systems and organizations and basic medical terminology.
6. Effective communications skills: Talking and writing to others to successfully convey information, listening to, and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences.
7. Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health care measures. Knowledge of the cancers and conditions seen with concept of treatment modalities.
8. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and customer satisfaction evaluation techniques.
9. Ability to use appropriate practice management and electronic health record software applications.
