OSITION S

UMMARY:



John Hopkins Surgery Center Sites is in need of an experienced Radiology Technologist, who operates standard, portable, and specialized X-ray equipment to perform radiographic examinations used for diagnosis and treatment. Provides appropriate patient care and acts as the Radiation Safety Officer for the ASC, operates standard, portable, and specialized X-ray equipment to perform radiographic examinations used for diagnosis and treatment. Provides appropriate patient care and acts as the Radiation Safety Officer for the ASC. The Radiologic Technologist responds to patient questions and concerns regarding the exam process and procedures. He/she maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information, including but not limited to demographics, diagnosis, health history, and physician referral information. This person is responsible for all paperwork associated with technical procedures and responds to physician questions and needs regarding patient procedures.

OMPETENCIES
:








A. Education:



Work requires completion of an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program. Registered or registry is eligible. Must be licensed by the State of Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance as a Medical Radiation Technologist.


B. Knowledge:



Requires skill in performing radiologic examinations, both routine and semi-complex. This required level of skill would be acquired during one year of related experience.


C. Skills:



Some analytical skills are required for determining technical factors such as voltage, current and exposure times; checking equipment to ensure proper functioning; and analyzing equipment manuals for correct equipment operating procedures.







Basic interpersonal skills are required to instruct patients about procedures being performed. Additionally must be able to assist in the instruction of rotating radiology students and assist lower-classified Radiologic Technicians in performing more complex procedures.







Manual dexterity is required for adjusting machine controls, dials, or other supportive devices. Required to lift and position patients and equipment approximately 60% of the time.







D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:



Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists


(ARRT), or registry eligible, and a Maryland State Licensure for Medical Radiation Technologist; CPR Certification needed.



E. Work Experience:



One year of diagnostic radiology experience is required.
