To carry out and create University traditions and ceremonies by producing first-rate events that reflect the mission, goals and values of Christopher Newport University.
This position will facilitate the work of the Office of University Events by providing administrative support to the University Events staff. Duties include but are not limited to answering office telephone lines, taking messages, responding to inquiries, maintaining R.S.V.P. lists, paying invoices, procuring goods and services, assisting events staff with check-in at events, completing department staff purchase card reconciliations and managing all office records and accounts.

Experience Required:
Experience using database, spreadsheet and word processing software.
Experience using email and business telephone.
Experience with bulk mailings.
Experience overseeing day-to-day administrative operations in an office setting.
Experience processing invoices and purchase requisitions.
Education Preferred:
Associate's degree or higher. Coursework in business administration or related field.
Experience Preferred:
Experience organizing and maintaining reports.
Experience working with Google Drive.
Experience working in the event field. Experience working with eVA purchasing software.
Experience working at a college or university.

This is an HOURLY position and does NOT entitle the incumbent to Commonwealth of Virginia benefits and is limited to 1500 hours in a 365-day period;
Selected candidate will be required to attend a 2-Day New Employee Orientation Program.
