The Executive Education unit of Daniels College of Business is focused primarily but not exclusively on non-degree programs for business executives and other professionals. These programs consist of both customized programs for specific organizations and open enrollment, or public, programs. This unit is a stand-alone revenue center for Daniels and draws on full time and adjunct faculty from the College as well as external experts to meet the specific needs of the client and and/or audience. Position Summary

The University of Denver, Daniels College of Business seeks an Executive Director for Executive Education to provide strategic leadership; oversee the operations, marketing, program management, and business development; and assume responsibility for the quality, financial stability and profitability of the programs. Reporting to the Dean of the Daniels College of Business, the Executive Director is charged with creating and selling programs that enhance the reputation of the Daniels College of Business as a regional, national and international leader in Executive Education. This area represents a significant growth opportunity for the College, and the Executive Director will develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to this end. It is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking leader whose vision will help set Daniels apart as a leader in the continuing and executive education sectors.

Essential Functions

Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning

  • Lead the development and execution of a strategic plan that effectively positions Daniels to meet the needs of a robust and diverse executive education marketplace and anticipates staffing and space requirements as the programs and revenues increase

  • Assess the market demand across sectors and develop and implement an integrated marketing plan to target local, regional, national, and international prospects

  • Incorporate the University and College strategic initiatives into Executive Education's strategic plan

Business Development

  • Represent Daniels at public and private sector events to cultivate relationships, increase program awareness and reputation, and drive sales

  • Develop an annual sales plan that identifies new clients, existing clients, and strategic partners

  • Build the brand of, and promote, Daniels Executive Education

  • Working with the Executive Education team, develop and deliver proposals to prospective clients

  • In close partnership with faculty, create and conduct organizational needs analyses in order to build successful Executive Education customized programs

  • Actively participate in top executive education associations

Team Leadership and Management

  • Lead a team of professionals who are responsible for finance, marketing, sales and program management, establishing performance goals and professional development plans and providing coaching on a continuous basis

  • Cultivate strong relationships with Daniels faculty

  • Allocate faculty and staff resources appropriately to support programming

Program Development

  • In conjunction with faculty, develop top-tier innovative, experiential, and discipline-integrated non-credit programs

  • Refine, review, and continuously improve program designs to meet client objectives and to improve program marketability

  • Use market data to define, deliver, and improve programs that will augment the current Executive Education portfolio

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic plans

  • Proficiency in analyzing data and using data in decision-making and reporting

  • Track record of accountability and follow through on hard and soft deadlines as well as outcomes

  • Ability to manage multiple, complex, and rapidly changing priorities

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to the principles of multiculturalism/diversity/inclusive excellence through involvement and participation in university/division-wide projects and initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10 years general business experience

  • Demonstrable track record in sales and/or business development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • 10 years of sales and business development experience including a leadership role within an organization

  • Experience developing strategic marketing plans and conducting market assessments of local, regional, national, and international trends and markets

  • Experience with corporate learning and development programs

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.

2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.

3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.

2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Salary Grade Number:

The salary grade for the position is 16.

Salary Range:

The salary range for this position is $130,000-$160,000

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
