Learn more about the “T” salary structure.  The Senior Grant Analyst, reporting to the Manager of Finance and Accounting within the Division of Research Administration, operates independently and applies formal education, relevant professional experience and advanced technical/practical knowledge to identify issues and develop relevant solutions to meet the financial administrative objectives of the department in managing Temple University’s federal, state, local and privately sponsored agreements in a complex regulatory environment. The incumbent is responsible for a portfolio with a higher level of difficulty, including resolution of matters that arise from the grant analyst team and the management of higher-complexity grants.The incumbent utilizes expert-level technical knowledge to thoroughly review assigned incoming awards and is fully responsible for the accurate set-up of individual sponsored agreements and closeouts of financial reports to sponsoring agencies.

The Senior Grant Analyst also serves as a peer leader and coach within the Division of Research Administration by providing training and troubleshooting to fellow Grant Analysts, department administrators, and investigators as needed. The Senior Grant Analyst will work with division leadership to on board new staff members and address complex technical and compliance related issues.

Essential Functions: 

*Working with principal investigators and research administrators to effectively manage externally.
*Sponsored agreements and ensure accurate and timely processing of financial data.
*Inputting approved budgets into the Banner Finance system and making any necessary budget revisions during the life of the award.
*Identifying variances and investigating issues of the cost appropriateness of allocations.
*Developing and running queries in performing analysis on sponsored awards and generating financial reports.
*Completing periodic and accurate financial reporting and reconciliation
*Collaborating with management on questions/issues of policy and regulatory interpretation, functionality, protocol, accounting practice, etc.
*Reviewing and managing billing for assigned sponsored awards and when applicable, preparing invoices with appropriate documentation as required by sponsoring agency.
*Training and/or assisting with the training of new grant analysts and University personnel. 
*Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least three years' related finance/accounting experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
Required Skills & Abilities:

*Demonstrated ability to utilize online financial systems. 
*Demonstrated computer skills, and advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced spreadsheet and database software skills. 
*Demonstrated analytical skills, and ability to work with large financial data sets. 
*Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population. 
*Demonstrated training skills within area of expertise. 
*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to be task- and detail-oriented. 
*Strong problem solving skills. 
Preferred:

*Strong understanding of Sponsored Projects and Research Administration. 
*Experience with university information systems (Banner, Cognos, InfoEd, etc.).
