Job Overview

The Help Desk Support Manager serves as a computer software, hardware, and AV systems technician, and help desk supervisor, accomplishing the variety of tasks involved with the maintenance and administration of desktop and laptop computers, and classroom audio-visual
technology. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides guidance to a large number (40+) of student employees who run the technology help desk

  • Independently determines the correct course of action, schedule, and assets required to solve hardware, software, and AV related malfunctions and inquiries

  • Oversees, assigns tasks, trains, and advises student employees on software, hardware, and AV issues

  • Provides applications program knowledge to guide staff and faculty in their use of computer resources in accomplishing their job

Work Interactions

Reporting directly to the Director of IT Operations, the Help Desk Support Manager manages resources and time with limited supervision in accomplishing the daily maintenance of hardware, software, and customer support tasks; and interacts regularly with all administrative levels of the faculty, staff, and students.


  • Some college level credit

  • 3 years of PC and network technical experience

  • Expert knowledge of computer hardware and software, including not only operating systems knowledge, but also applications program knowledge

  • A+ certification
