Position based out of St. Mary Medical Center. Provides comprehensive care to patients requiring Mammographic and Bone Density-imaging services in an organized and systematic manner according to departmental policy and standards.
Assumes responsibility for the use of proper exposure and protective measures for each patient safety
Appropriately educates and explains procedures to patients. Modifies approach based on needs and developmental level of patient
Assesses patients for potential risk factors
Follows appropriate departmental protocol for procedures unless specified differently by the Radiologist
Obtains and documents patient history and pertinent information
Insures proper identification of patient
Clarifies and follows Doctor's orders
Provides for patient privacy
Produces quality mammography for interpretation
Performs sterile technique when performing biopsy procedures
Responds effectively in an emergency situation
Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care
Completes work within an acceptable time frame
Acts as a patient advocate and upholds patient rights
Prioritizes/organizes work assignments and adjusts priorities based on changing situations
Promotes/maintains a safe, clean and orderly work environment
Consults and communicates with other departments in a professional manner
Demonstrates understanding of safety, health and morale needs of customers/co-workers by taking steps to ensure those needs are met
Follows ISCD guidelines for Bone Density procedures.
Operates medical imaging equipment properly, safely and ensures it is in acceptable condition.
Demonstrates awareness of Radiation Safety procedures for self and others
Replenishes and changes supplies in assigned area as needed
Ensures equipment is in acceptable conditions by conducting routine quality control
Follows department standards for reporting malfunctions or problems
Follows regulatory guidelines and performs QA/QC as mandated by ACR/ MQSA
Follows mammographic procedures for needle localizations.
Follows mammographic procedure for stereotactic biopsy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
ARRT registration
Mammography license
Technical School/1 Year College
2-4 years of experience
