Nazareth Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for Patient Care Assistant to join our team on the Neuroscience Unit!
Shift: Night, 11:00 PM-7:00 AM, Every Other Weekend
Unit Overview: 20 beds total, staff with 4 RN's (5:1 ratio), patient population includes neuro, ortho, and med-surge
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for direct patient care tasks as assigned and under supervision of professional nursing personnel. Also provides indirect care to maintain unit functions as directed by the professional nursing staff i.e. care and cleaning of specific equipment, transportation of patients, stocking of supplies and equipment, etc.
Performs hygiene/comfort measures including bath/shower, mouth care, shaving etc.
Assists patients in activities of daily living.
Uses appropriate patient transfer techniques.
Maintains patient body alignment and positioning (assist with normal range of motion, hip precautions, pressure relief of high risk areas: heels, sacrum, scapula, hips, etc.)
{Signs and symptoms of hyper/hypo glycemia, foot care etc.}
Provides 1:1 suicide/close observation precautions as assigned.
Never leaves patient alone.
Remains within arms length.
Reports any problems to RN immediately.
Monitors patient potential risk factors when performing 1:1 patient monitoring / close observation patient monitoring.
Performs Patient Care Assistant duties for patient(s)
Interacts with patient(s) during 1:1/close observation
Responsible for all patient comfort measures.
Education and Training
High school graduate or equivalent.
Certification and Licensure - Certified Nurse Assistant preferred or current nursing student. Current BCLS required (through American Heart Association)
Skills - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
Experience - Prior clinical experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who are pursuing higher education in the health care field
