Training and education provided in VVTA will supplement, enhance, and reinforce the education you receive in the Penn Foster Veterinary Technology Program. In addition to your school curriculum, you will learn and practice skills that complement your respective level in the program. Qualifications to apply
Good at problem solving
Able to adapt to ever changing situations
Commitment and determination to complete the Penn Foster Veterinary Technology Program
Ability to overcome difficult obstacles
Works for VCA animal hospital preferred
Previous experience working with animals preferred
Minimum of 20 hours working in or observing at an animal hospital
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with the public in a professional and respectful way
Requirements and expectations
Working Program Hours are defined as hours the student/employee attends supplemental education/training/observing/working with the Technician Training Manager, mentor or assigned hospital staff. This may include but is not limited to time spent practicing skills learned on live hospitalized patients, classroom hours provided by VCA in person or virtually, supplemental learning labs and offsite field trips.
High school graduate or GED
Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher throughout the program
Allowed 2 excused absences per semester
Students enrolled in this program are expected to complete all assignments and studying for the program outside of working program hours to ensure they meet program deadlines. These are not considered billable hours.
After completion of the program and passing of the VTNE, you will be required to serve 3 years of service as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician with VCA Animal Hospitals.
