Primary Role

Candidate should be based out of one of the following locations, Greenwood, Indiana; Gary Indiana, Jeffersonville, Ind. or Richmond, Indiana. Candidate will be required to support Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.


  • Responsible for facilitating physical security assessments, audits and training sessions.

  • Provide support and assistance to the Manager, Security and Preparedness in the areas of Physical Security, and Security Capital Program Management through understanding of existing vulnerabilities and the risk mitigation techniques used to reduce the vulnerabilities.

Key Accountabilities


  • Conduct Vulnerability Assessments, Site Specific Security Assessments, and Security Audits per an established schedule.

  • Develop written reports and quantify the results for evaluation and development of security projects in the capital program.

  • Provide management support for security capital projects, including working with security vendors and local Facility Security Coordinators to manage all aspects of capital replacements, enhancements, and repairs at all facilities where an integrated solution has been deployed to limit outages and downtime on existing security equipment.

  • Assist Project Managers of business in project design, delivery, and inspection of all security components relating to the project.

  • Provide field support for troubleshooting of security issues or outages. Liaison with the Integrated Operations Center team members to resolve issues and restore the system to a normal state.

  • Liaison with local law enforcement to ensure an appropriate response to security alarms and events.

  • Act as the single point of contact for all security related issues and incidents.

  • Conduct investigations as required for security incidents.

  • Assist the Manager, Operations Security as necessary and requested with the event management tasks.

Knowledge/Skills


  • Strong organizational skills (Planning, Organizing, Controlling).

  • Strong interpersonal skills (Tact, Diplomacy, Persuasion and Motivation).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills must be able to take good field notes and draft formal reports.

  • Possess project management skills and understanding of AW project management process.

  • Basic knowledge of security risks associated with the water industry and water treatment operations.

  • Basic knowledge of principles, standards and techniques of security audits and surveys.

  • Basic knowledge of general security practices associated with physical security.

Experience/Education


  • High School or GED required.

  • Associate Degree preferred.

  • One or more of the following certifications recommended: ASIS International CPP, PCI, PSP and/or other relevant certifications. Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100, 200, 300, 400.

  • Experience in the field of security or in a non-security position which interfaced directly with a security function.

  • Experience with site or security facility inspections and drafting field reports.

Travel Requirements

Required to support American Water operations. Must be willing to travel as necessary to support the requirements of the business. Anticipated 20% domestic travel.

Other

Varies by task. Employee must be familiar with geographic location of American Water operating centers and facilities, so as to conduct appropriate site security surveys and inspections.
