Overview


The Settlement Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development, enhancement, and support of market and transmission settlement functions including revenue collection, distribution, reconciliation, and ongoing analysis.  The Settlement Analyst provides support for the Supervisor of Settlements, Manager of Settlements, Director of Settlements, SPP organization subcommittees, working groups, and any necessary task forces.


Essential Functions



  • Settlement & Other Financial Support

  • Resolve client questions, disputes, and data errors in the operations of settlement computations

  • Respond to customer and external requests

  • Develop presentation materials for settlements training

  • Utilize strong analytical and problem solving abilities to facilitate a resolution to issues or questions.

  • Update market or transmission settlement reference documents posted on company website

  • Develop and maintain a strong level of understanding (subject matter expertise) of the market protocols and SPP tariff

  • Develop and implement procedures to support the market or transmission settlement process

  • Support or lead system development, product implementation, certification and testing criteria

  • Code (SQL, JAVA, SAS) and test the market and transmission settlement charge types to be used in the invoicing process or shadowing of the invoiced charge types as requested

  • Identify detailed solutions and improvements to settlement procedures and software to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness

  • Support business process development

  • Primary support of daily market and transmission settlement activities

  • Perform pre-settlement validations of billing determinants from source system interfaces

  • Perform post-settlement validations for daily settlement statements and other reports for market participants

  • Ensure compliance with all settlement control activities subject to the annual SSAE 16 audit including maintenance of all documentation providing evidence of performance of those activities

  • Respond to requests from internal groups for data and financial analysis

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal departments to answer questions and resolve issues

  • Assist Director of Settlements, Supervisor of Settlements, and other SPP staff with financial analysis, reporting requests, and other ad hoc assignments as necessary

  • Comply with SPP Policies and Procedures

Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree (Two years of relevant job-related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement)


Experience Requirements:



  • Settlement Analyst I - No experience required

  • Settlement Analyst II - Two (2) years of job-related experience

  • Settlement Analyst Sr- Six (6) years of job-related experience


Preferred:



  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and PPT.

  • Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus

  • Degree in accounting, computer science, economics, finance, mathematics or similar field of study

  • Knowledge of electric utility industry

  • Knowledge of computer business applications and data base management systems

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL and proficiency in writing and supporting complex queries

  • Experience with SAS (Analytics, Business Intelligence and Data Management) software

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:


This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.


Travel Requirement:



  • This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%).
