About the Job

The VP, Companion Diagnostics (CDx) Business is an operational executive who assumes business leadership of FMI's CDx core book of business from contract close to project conclusion. This matrix leader is accountable for cross-enterprise resource planning and CDx portfolio prioritization to enable delivery execution and revenue with outstanding customer experience. A core member of the BioPharma Leadership team, this leader works closely with BioPharma business development teams, Operations and other technical delivery functions, Finance, HR, and Portfolio & Program Management (PPM). This leader is accountable for achieving revenue, margin and customer experience targets and supporting projected schedules across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities


  • Portfolio Prioritization (Pre-deal):

    • Create execution strategy and prioritization methodology for potential BioPharma CDx deals. Input key delivery learnings into pre-proposal CDx scoping and deal-making processes to improve deal quality, economics, and risk profiles.
    • Partner with Operations and PPM on FMI-wide resource planning and delivery requirements based on quarterly executed and in-funnel CDx book of business including projected headcount needs, demand-capacity balance, and support functional hiring pipeline as needed.
    • Leverage deep knowledge of industry, customer/competitor strategy, oncology therapeutic development trends, and FMI's portfolio to assess and advise on CDx deals, balancing potential of financial upside, delivery capacity, and technical risk.

  • CDx Delivery Governance:

    • Scale and manage CDx portfolio. Serve as point of escalation for internal CDx program delivery.
    • Shape, execute, and play a key leadership role in post-contract close activities, including initiating JPTs (Joint Project Teams), program kickoffs, and other collaboration structures as business owner, partnering with business development, Operations, and PPM functions.
    • Manage team of CDx project leads as assigned. Oversee matrixed project managers and/or functional leads to ensure delivery of projects/programs are in scope.
    • Provide governance of operational delivery, program management, and progress tracking; help establish and oversee appropriate cross-functional delivery processes through matrixed teams.
    • Navigate stakeholders through portfolio risks and trade-offs. Drive and/or make revenue/customer-impacting portfolio and program-level decisions with key stakeholders.
    • Champion and lead continuous improvement of CDx value capture and delivery business processes and tools, demand-capacity model, portfolio-level tracking, financial models (revenue recognition), and customer metrics.

  • Customer Experience:

    • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure a OneTeam approach to customer delivery.
    • Collaborate regularly with Strategic Partnership Leaders on account health and customer communications.
    • Attend JSCs and meet customers as needed on progress and issue resolutions.
    • Work with Business Operations & Customer Experience to provide operational dashboards and insights that drive improved execution and customer experience.

  • Revenue Realization:

    • Manage delivery to predefined operating gross-margins at deal level.
    • Ensure program milestones met such that revenue is recognized.
    • Collaborate with Finance to drive revenue recognition modeling, tracking, and realization.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's or advanced degree in business or scientific discipline

  • 12+ years of experience in CDx program management or alliance management in the biopharmaceutical, biotech, and/or diagnostics industry, 5+ of which are in Oncology

  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing teams in a matrixed organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant CDx partnership experience and demonstrated results achieving revenue and margin targets, delivering projected schedules across a portfolio, and achieving customer experience measures in a matrixed environment

  • Significant experience with the principles and approaches of CDx project execution, including joint problem solving, managing escalations, removing barriers for joint teams and managing governance

  • Experience working in dynamic and growing teams; demonstrated ability and comfort to operate and deliver in a fast-paced environment; able to work in ambiguity, adapting to change and embracing new opportunities

  • Significant experience with core operational processes including forecasting, demand-capacity planning and modeling, financial business reviews and tracking,

  • Expertise developing and measuring KPIs including financial performance, operational/process (delivery) performance, and customer satisfaction

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at senior executive and stakeholder levels, proven ability to influence without authority

  • Exhibits high levels of initiative, drive, and follow-through

  • Understanding of HIPAA and importance of privacy of patient data
