Nature & Scope:


Responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical controlled machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining 5S in the department; and maintaining equipment and supplies.  Provides leadership, assigns work schedules for the CNC machines, and monitors performance of team members.  Assists supervisor as needed.  Assume responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor except for hiring, disciplining, and discharging of employees.


 


 


Specific Job Responsibilities & Duties:



  • Plans machining by studying jobs, work orders, batch records, materials, specifications, reference, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets dimension and tolerances.

  • Plans product inventory by checking materials to determine amount available; anticipates needed materials; places and expedites orders for product; verifies work orders.

  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for completion of new and different requests; explores opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Provides work direction for team members.

  • Maintains work area, equipment cleanliness, and follows sanitation and safety procedures.

  • Sets up equipment and ensures that all required components are available.

  • Meets productivity standards.

  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follows manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions; calls for repairs.

  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs and checks.

  • Ensures effective employee relations.  Provides employee coaching and development.  Resolves employee issues through problem resolution. Understands when to involve supervisor/manager to resolve employee issues.

  • Demonstrates effective and professional communication skills.

  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.  Works to continuously improve in all areas.

  • Manages departmental performance measures with correct management personnel, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.

  • Provides leadership. Lead by example.

  • Tracks absenteeism and time-keeping using the Time and Attendance system.

  • Completes and submits Daily Production Planning and end of day actual production attainment.

  • Assumes responsibilities in the absence of the Manger (in regard to production), except for hiring and discharging of employees.

  • Works towards continuously improving housekeeping, safety, and productivity, and establishes an environment that empowers employees.


 


           


Qualifications:


 


Education



  • Two-year technical degree in related field or equivalent


 


Experience



  • Minimum 5 years of CNC experience with CNC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Lead experience preferred.

  • Good work and attendance history

  • Proven ability to read/review job folders

  • Average computer skills (working knowledge of Excel and Word)

  • Prior experience in process improvement, supply management, and inventory control


 


Skills



  • Ability to use hand tools and powered pallet jacks 

  • Ability to read tape measure

  • Ability to read and understand Graham Architectural Products’ blueprints, drawings, and routings

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete tasks

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to pay attention to details and make judgment decisions

  • Team player
