Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities within our CO 2 Laser group include --


  • Performs a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
  • Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. Tests and troubleshoots assemblies and/or final systems. May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.
  • Has substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks.
  • Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  • Ability to work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring sound judgment in trouble shooting, resolving issues and the ability to provide recommendations.
  • Support Lean Initiatives including 3S weekly & 6S monthly activities.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and cultivate safe behaviors
  • Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.
  • Learn proficiency with multiple product lines
  • Demonstrate ability to adapt and learn
  • Assist with documentation as needed
  • Other duties as business needs require.
Education & Experience

  • Technical Associates degree or Certificate in Laser Electro Optics or related discipline + 0 years of experience --- OR --- 2-4 years of closely related opto-mechanical, electronics assembly, or test experience.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, interpret optical and electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, engineering plans and specifications as required.
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools, soldering equipment, vacuum systems and electronic equipment required.
  • Knowledge of laser components preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel) required.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively interact with cross-functional groups.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
