We are looking to add a Director of Logistics to effectively manage and lead the expanding nationwide operations of the logistics department and its multiple logistics teams. The Director of Logistics is responsible for the execution of the company’s strategic and operational logistics initiatives, to include performance and process improvement, purchasing and vendor management, internal compliance, customer satisfaction, and safety.  MVM seeks a highly innovative and self-motivated individual to identify and develop the logistic department’s growing and diverse portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Oversee the company’s logistics, fleet, and facility management teams and projects to ensure they align to and directly support the company’s strategic and operational initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain vendor and service provider relationships; manage goods and services while applying cost containment strategies that ensure procurement of quality products and services and meet customer expectations.  

  • Ensure DOT compliance and reporting related to the fleet; coordinate with operations, people services and talent acquisition to ensure company driver’s requirements are implemented and documented (manually or in company systems).

  • Manage vehicle maintenance software; generate drivers’ safety and usage reports, project milestones and deficiencies, and program forecasting for vehicle cyclical replacement, operations, and maintenance programs.

  • Establish, manage, and examine logistics and fleet budgets, vehicle and capital asset replacement plans, and equipment care and maintenance schedules.

  • Implements company’s logistical standard operating procedures at all locations, monitors the company’s QC Plan, which includes monitoring the work output level, quality of the work product, quality of service and ensuring technical contract compliance.

  • Coordinates with talent acquisition and people services to recruit quality, experienced logistics personnel, as well as develop headquarters and field staff through recurring training, reviews, and evaluations.

  • Overseeing development of Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring logistics training and safety compliance across the enterprise.

  • Implement energy savings and carbon reducing practices across the company.

  • Provide oversight for company offices to include facility leasing, build out, set up, and on-going management.

  • Provide oversight of supply chain and inventory management to leverage buying power, contain costs and provide quality products, when needed, to company operations.   

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s degree - preferably in transportation, business, supply chain, and other fields related to logistics, with several years of professional experience.

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a related position; preferably providing logistics, supply chain, fleet and facility support.

  • 3-5 years of experience working with and presenting to senior leadership, stakeholders, and decision makers, within a fleet services program.

  • Proven experience in maintaining and reporting key logistics metrics and customer data.

  • Previous experience managing remote projects and teams in multiple locations, simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities within a complex and dynamic logistics environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly with Excel and Access) and the ability to learn systems currently in use.

  • Must be willing to travel, as required.

  • Sound analytical skills to identify problems and develop solutions or recommendations.

  • Effective negotiation skills, both internally and externally, that benefit the company and organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; can communicate effectively with multiple levels of management.

  • Able to solve problems, make decisions, and implement policy, in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under pressure.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with outside vendors.

  • Experience using logistics/supply chain-related software and systems.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance 

  • Favorable credit check for all cleared positions 

  • Successfully pass a background investigation, medical and drug screen.

Standing/Walking/Mobility:  Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees.

Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:  Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time

Sitting:  Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time
