What We're Looking For: Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is looking for an individual to Lead its Traffic Engineer section for the states of Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia with interest in supporting general traffic engineering studies and analysis, along with safety analysis and reports. The candidate may also be asked to assist with transportation planning studies as needed and overseeing traffic signal designs, and traffic system intelligent transportation systems design for the Barge transportation business unit. These positions are located in our corporate office in Nashville, Huntsville or Birmingham, and Atlanta.
Responsibilities:
Serve as project manager for traffic engineering projects.
Ability to mentor, direct activities, and supervise work of traffic department staff
Lead and prepare various types of traffic studies such as traffic impact studies, Intersection safety analysis, Interchange analysis, assist with corridor planning documents
Lead / assists in the preparation or modification of technical reports, drawings, plans, specifications and permits for projects
Lead / assists in the analysis and design of a variety of Multimodal Traffic Projects.
Assists with transportation planning studies as needed
Collaborates with project team members, client representatives, review agencies to help resolve a variety of complex problems
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering documents.
Participates in project site visits with other project team members as needed
Provides Intersection and corridor operational analysis
Assists with the development of intersection operational improvements including pedestrian, bicycle, and transit facilities
Oversee traffic signal and signing/pavement marking designs that include multimodal facilities
Using Synchro software develop and help implement signal timing plans
Works with other disciplines such as survey, roadway design, and environmental to increase engineering knowledge and facilitate successful project delivery
Demonstrates strong attention to detail
Performs other duties as requested
Education & Experience Qualifications:
B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
PE certification required
4-8 years transportation or traffic engineering experience preferred
Experience/ familiarity with Synchro, Sim Traffic, HCM and Microsoft office.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
Basic familiarity with MUTCD, AASHTO, and the use of DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
