Crop Scout Intern- Southern Iowa

Interested in a career in agronomy? A Land O'Lakes member owner cooperative in southern Iowa is adding Crop Scout Interns to their team this summer! Interns will get hand-on agronomic experience with experience crop advisors and agronomy sales professionals!

Available Locations:


  • Red Oak, Iowa

  • Osceola, Iowa

  • Mount Ayr, Iowa

Position Duration: May - August (start and end dates flexible)

Position Duties:


  • Assist with customer service of the cooperative's seed, chemical and fertilizer customers

  • Interact with farmer customers and converse with them about the status of their crop

  • Attend agricultural industry training events

  • Learn basic agronomic knowledge and practice weed, insect and disease identification

  • Learn how crop protection businesses are ran and the basics of chemical application, mixing and pesticide recommendations

  • Identify problem areas in the field and help protect the farmer's livelihood

  • Learn how to provide high quality customer service with a focus on doing what's right for the farmer

  • Identify how to manage hard-to-control weeds with chemicals and herbicide resistance traits

  • Learn about the importance of the farmer-owned cooperative system to the American Farmer

PositionCompetencies andQualifications:


  • Pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree, preferably in an agricultural related major or program.

  • Frequently move, lift and carry boxes, tubs, and tools weighing 50-60 lbs., access and utilize farm equipment, and move or traverse on uneven ground.

  • Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license.

  • Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
