A trained Media Prep operator will be responsible for preparation and sterilization of culture media and media components.  Must be able to proceed independently in media processing in accordance with standard methods, standard operating procedures (SOP) and Manufacturing Directions using proper laboratory techniques and adhere to the policies.

NOTE: This position is offering a $2,500 Sign-On Bonus!

Basic Minimum Requirements


  • High School Diploma/GED


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to train others. 


  • Demonstrated ability to effectively convey information in an appropriate and effective manner.


  • Ability to effectively lead, resolve conflict and function as a shift foreman.


  • Perform calculations and conversions involving weights, volumes, and percentages.


  • Demonstrated analytical skill / problem solving skills – identifies problems; recognizes symptoms, causes, and alternative solution.


  • Knowledge and skill to recognize creative ideas that add value and are able to be implemented to improve efficiency, effectiveness and reduce complexity for department


  • Demonstrated understanding of systems, equipment, and processes


  • Demonstrated ability to set-up and troubleshoot equipment as required


  • Experience with Windows Operating System.


  • Effective and efficient multitasking skills.


  • Effective time management skills for self and others


  • Proficient reading, comprehension and application skills toward a diverse set of complicated tasks.

Preferred Qualifications


  •  Additional Education and/or Equivalent Experience


  • Successful completion of National Career Readiness Work Keys assessment


  • Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Handling


  • Knowledge of Decontamination and Sterilization


  • Knowledge of Traffic Patterns


  • Knowledge of or evidence of working with BPE methods


  • Understanding of Basic GMP/Documentation practices


  • Demonstrated ability and understanding of Safe working habits


  • Understanding of Basic Laboratory Practices, Measurements, Biology and Microbiology


  • Understanding of operating in an aseptic environment


  • Ability to work in a team environment


Job Responsibilities


  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow written procedures.


  • Select, verify, and document information contained on labels of all media reagents used to prepare media.


  • Perform calculations and conversions involving weights, volumes and percentages.


  • Perform and check pH measurement and adjustments.


  • Preparation of media and media components.


  • Perform aseptic operations for production processes performed within area.


  • Operate all automated and semi-automated equipment used in relation to media production process.


  • Perform inspection and assessment of equipment and material condition prior to use.  Determine when repair is necessary and follow up with appropriate documentation.


  • Document operations with strict adherence to cGMP documentation practices.


  • Follow Elanco’s Standard Operating Procedures for the handling of hazardous wastes.


  • Perform General Housekeeping.


  • Conduct one-on-one training with new bid in employees under Supervisor direction.


  • Other Duties as assigned


Additional Information


  • Assist higher Grade operators under supervision.


  • May perform jobs of the lower grades as required


  • This position is 3rd shift: Mon. - Thurs. 8:30pm-7am (comes in Sunday night)
