We are searching for a motivated & experienced Transportation Manager

This position is responsible for ensuring reliable cost-effective transport for the USA business. The role requires setting and implementing strategy, considering current best practices and technology. A key aspect of the position is the clear communication of goals and results to senior management, peers, and reports. The person will be responsible for motivating and developing individuals in the Transportation team.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manages the daily operations of the transportation teamResolves problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports, and customer issuesPartners with customers to set shared KPIs that improve service and reduce costMaintains a stable carrier base with regular meetings and annual reviewsKeeps carrier contracts updated, to include quantitative performance based metricsDevelops budgets, policies, and metrics to optimize service and manage costsProvides monthly reporting of results and updates projectionsProposes network scenarios to optimize service and reduce cost with robust numbers based analysisAnalyzes the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriersIdentifies and implements IT solutions to improve the functionDevelops and motivates transportation staff and documents performance thru mid-year and annual reviewsSets performance goals that motivate the team to improve service and minimize costsEnsures compliance with all transportation regulatory requirementsStays up to date on industry best practices
Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).Informs supervision of any problems or complications that may ariseParticipates in special projects and performs other duties as required
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed, all positions are also responsible for:
Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.
As part of your supervisory responsibility and as a back-up, supervisors must be able to do your work in ways that ensure safe food. You must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree, plus 5 years management experience, plus 8-10 years of experience in transportation procurement, carrier management, and network optimization; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Food experience a must, as well as experience with freezer/refrigeration carriers (broker and/or asset based carriers).
