Overview

We are seeking a full-time Aviation Field Service Engineer for our Fleet Operations team in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for becoming highly knowledgeable in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of Garmin Avionics products, and providing technical support on Garmin products to our Fleet Operators. Whether you love providing technical support or having the knowledge and know how to operate Garmin avionics, our field service engineers enjoy the flexibility of a multi-faceted job that allows them to have a hand in our OEM avionics. Our detail-oriented field service engineers know the specifications, capabilities and operation of our avionics products. They can provide technical support remotely or on-site and can even complete installations in an aircraft manufacturing environment - of course, ensuring strict compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Essential Functions


  • Become highly knowledgeable in the specifications, capabilities, and operation of GARMIN products with emphasis on Garmin Avionics products

  • Answer customer and installer technical inquiries regarding Garmin products via telephone, letters, fax, and e-mail

  • Travel to customers facilities to provide on-site support of Avionics Installations and troubleshooting as required

  • Arrange for repair of customer equipment to be returned to the factory and arrange for exchange of out of box failures of Garmin equipment

  • Act as liaison between customer and associates of other departments within Garmin

  • Monitor, document, and report failure trends in Garmin equipment

  • Identify/recommend improvements in Garmin products, documentation, and procedures

  • Review special circumstances and authorize warranty service when deemed appropriate

  • Review owners manuals, installation manuals, and maintenance manuals for completeness, technical accuracy, and areas likely to be misinterpreted

  • Responsible for ensuring all customer (OEM) information and Garmin business information is maintained in strict confidence consistent with the associate's contractual confidentiality obligations as well as the Proprietary Information/Confidentiality provisions set forth in Garmin's Associate Handbook

  • Represent Garmin at industry and professional meetings, conferences, and trade shows as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent Military/Trade school training OR a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

  • Must possess a minimum of 4 years experience in Avionics installation and troubleshooting

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work across functional and organizational lines

  • Must demonstrate a superior customer-oriented attitude

  • Must demonstrate broad knowledge of aircraft systems and Avionics Sub-systems

  • Must possess proficiency using personal computers and Microsoft Office

  • Must possess the ability to component level troubleshoot and repair various Avionics systems

  • Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous Avionics experience in an Aircraft Maintenance Facility and/or an Aircraft Manufacturing environment

  • Pilot's License

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License

  • Experience troubleshooting and installing Garmin avionics systems
