Guard Enterprise Cyber Operations Support (GECOS) – Azure Cloud Engineer

GDIT has an opening for an Azure Cloud Engineer position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG’s global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services.  The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for IT Service Management (ITSM) model.

The Azure Cloud Engineer ​ will:

• Provides management and consulting services to support cloud services and security.




• Develops cloud services strategies and provides recommendations on how to transform business solutions using private and public cloud services, including models such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Lab as a Service (LaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).




• Provides consistency in the cloud computing business and service delivery models within the ARNG enterprise, including an organizational roadmap surrounding cloud initiatives, best practices, and frameworks enabling standardized cloud services capabilities to create, execute, and manage enterprise cloud business solutions to achieve lower total cost of ownership and to drive more cost-effective operations.




• Handling Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines. 




• Deploying Azure VMs (Windows Server and Linux) in a highly available environment.




• Perform configuration management and disaster recovery tasks on your new environment. 




• Using PowerShell to deploy resources and repeatable deployments with ARM templates. 




• Work on Microsoft Azure Networking.




• Design virtual networks to support workloads with the highest security and performance. 




• Explore configuring hybrid connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure, and how to monitor network performance to comply with service-level agreements. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required Skills and Experience: 

• A minimum of BS and 8 years of relevant IT experience with Cloud Services (will consider other combinations of experience, education and certification).




• Azure or AWS Foundations cloud certification




• Experience providing Cloud Engineering and support in DoD environments




• Possess the appropriate baseline and computing environment certifications to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level II.




• An active Secret security clearance.
