The Emerging Technology team's mandate is to coordinate and catalyze the adoption of disruptive AI, machine learning, and automation solutions across the Fitch Group.

Specific Emerging Technology team objectives are:

• Lead AI/ML/Automation technology and vendor relationships
• AI/ML/Automation technology implementation at the enterprise level (in partnership with business and product owners)
• Enterprise data science products, processes, and solutions (predictive models, model governance and quality)
• Lead and support other enterprise-level initiatives.

Job Description - NLP Intern ( Duration : ~12 weeks from May through Aug 2023)

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of present-day AI/ML capabilities, has developed and tested AI/ML based models. As a member of the Emerging Tech Data Science team you will work on challenging research problems that have a direct impact on Fitch's ESG Ratings business. The primary responsibility is to develop a new Q&A modeling capability to find, extract and rank relevant information from large corpus of documents to aid the ratings process.

Responsibilities:

Conduct research and experiments using SOTA NLP models.

Expand on current rule-based proto type to experiment with NLP methodologies

Work with broader team to identify data gaps and develop new ways to gather training data if required.

Present findings (written reports or oral presentations, as appropriate)

Qualifications - Required Skills:

• Experience using Machine Learning / Deep learning / Neural Networks techniques.
• Understanding of Open-source SOTA NLP models and approaches - Few-Shot based models, BERT models, and overview of Transfer Learning methodologies
• Strong programming skills with preferred tech stack - Python, PyTorch, Sagemaker
• Experience running machine learning experiments and writing test cases
• Good communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Prior experience working with off-the-shelf model fine-tuning processes

FOR NEW YORK ROLES ONLY: Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $20.00/hr and $45.00/hr. Actual salaries will be determined on an individualized basis and may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of Fitch's total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits sponsored by Fitch.
