The senior manager will report directly to the Head of Enterprise Risk and will be responsible for leading operational risk processes and programs for ACI Worldwide. This individual will have exposure to the company's senior leadership and work closely with a variety of stakeholders to manage operational risk throughout the company.

Job Purpose

Responsible for owning, leading, and designing the operational elements of ACI's Risk Program & Framework. This individual will also provide risk and compliance advisory services with regards to operational risk. This position will ensure that ACI has the operational programs and processes to manage ACI's business and operational risks.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Leads and executes on the operational elements of ACI's Risk Framework.
  • Own and takes responsibility for the following activities within each operational risk process: training, communications, process / program adherence, effective challenge, process improvement, policy creation, documenting procedures, tools / technology, escalating risk information, reporting to appropriate forums. More information on each operational risk process is included below.

  • Issue Management:

    • Owns the process by which risk issues are managed and remediated, including remediation plan oversight and risk acceptances.
    • Provides risk and compliance advisory services to the first line to build out a full understanding of the risks to ACI and its clients, and to provide effective challenge on whether remediation plans are appropriate and sufficient.
  • Loss Events

    • Designs and leads the process that provides management with insight into operational losses, including root cause analysis and impact to ACI and its clients.
    • Escalates high-impact loss events to leadership and facilitates stakeholder awareness.
  • Process Risk Assessment

    • Designs and leads the process by which the first line assesses business process risk, including oversight of downstream risk-based testing.
  • Risk & Compliance Advisory

    • Develops deep subject matter proficiency across ACI enterprise risk programs; partners with risk program owners, assesses trends, and recommends adjustments to programs where appropriate to proactively address evolving needs of ACI and its clients.
    • Serves as the primary liaison between ACI business partners and risk & compliance program leads.
    • Collaborates within ACIs horizontal and vertical functions to address risk and compliance advisory and support needs; consults with business leaders and stakeholders on solutions based on good internal models and advice.
  • Supports the Head of Risk Management with Board and Executive Leadership communications and materials.
  • Partners and builds trust with key business partners; is a respected and sought-after resource.
  • Interprets and translates between Risk & Compliance domains, technology and the business.
  • Influences the organization to create a more risk and compliance aware culture.
  • Peer leader, enterprise risk subject matter expert, and trusted risk partner; is intellectually curious; learns the business. Provides insight as well as information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Understand and adhere to all corporate policies to include but not limited to the ACI Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years enterprise risk management, compliance or equivalent GRC program experience; financial services/fintech risk management experience preferred
  • Strong background including application of advanced Risk & Compliance concepts, practices, and procedures to effectively manage risk to achieve defined outcomes and desired results.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Competencies)

  • MBA, JD, or similar advanced degree a plus
  • Experience with the development of risk policies and standards.
  • Experience with Archer GRC or similar tools strongly preferred.
  • Experience and/or expertise in banking/payments business a plus


  • Ability to design processes and implement continuous improvements to those processes.
  • Ability to provide effective challenge at all seniority levels throughout the organization.
  • Thrives in ambiguous environments and is able to create clarity and structure out of chaos and noise.
  • Has experience presenting and reporting to Boards and Executive Leadership teams.
  • Ability to continuously prioritize projects based on risk or impact, confront conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive, and proactive manner.
  • Mature communication skills, both oral and written, to concisely communicate key issues and resolutions in manners appropriate to the audience.
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to lead without direct authority, influence and build consensus across functional teams.
  • Excels with high levels of discretion, managing and communicating with staff at all organizational levels, from senior management to individual contributors.
  • Ability to set strategy but focus on tactical and detail for execution.
  • Ability to continually assess options to utilize data and automation to assess and improve ACI's internal control environment.
  • Sharp decision-making skills and an ability to prioritize and execute on multiple activities.
