Under general supervision, the Occupational Safety & Health Specialist participates in the development and implementation of the Board's occupational safety and health programs. Conducts inspections and hazard assessments, develops and conducts training, recommends hazard controls, investigates accidents, performs required recordkeeping and develops written reports.Requires b achelor's degree in industrial hygiene, safety, environmental health or the biological sciences or equivalent educational and work experience plus four year of responsible work experience in the field. Requires excellent analytical ability and verbal and written communication skills. Incumbent must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations and demonstrated ability to assess workplace hazards for industrial hygiene, safety, fire and environmental issues. Must have ability and knowledge to prepare and write occupational safety and health program documents outlining policy direction, roles, and responsibilities within organizational settings. Ability to develop and present educational/training programs and/or workshops. Working knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Experience with fall protection, confined space safety or construction plan review preferred . Proficiency in the use of personal computers, windows-based operating environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Board staff and outside agencies. A demonstrable commitment to a strong customer service philosophy. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is desirable.
FR-26 - Requires knowledge of previous grade with five years of progressively responsible work experience in the field. Requires excellent analytical ability and verbal and written communication skills. Incumbent must have advanced knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of OSHA and specialized experience in assessing workplace hazards for industrial hygiene, safety, fire and environmental issues. Must have experience writing occupational safety and health program documents.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level/pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
