The Out N About program is a community inclusion program for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The program provides social and/or recreational opportunities for the individuals in the program. The Program Lead shall provide support and guidance to Direct Support Professionals, ensuring consumers are cared for under the best practices and support options. The Program Lead will work with the Family Support Coordinator to plan activities/events monthly and will be responsible for all necessary paperwork for all activities/events. Additionally, the Program Lead shall assist individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in participating in recreational and social activities within the community and will assure that their health and safety is maintained during community outings. The DSP will always treat the consumer/caregiver with dignity.
Out N About programming occurs on Saturdays and requires in-person staff attendance. Saturday events take place from approximately 10AM – 2PM. Virtual opportunities may also be available throughout the week. Hour availability will vary based on scheduled events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains regular communication with Family Support Coordinator via agency email
Program Lead must work a 3 in-person events per month
Be attentive, flexible, and supportive of consumers and their families
Encourage and model social behavior and appropriate self-expression
Collaborate with Program Coordinator to develop program activities that align with participant goals
Oversee program staff during events and ensure compliance with staffing ratios
Lead and facilitate program activities and coordinate supplies
Responsible for maintaining the comfort, health, safety, and well-being of consumers during program events and intervening when necessary
Provide care and supervision to assigned individual(s)
Submit all program documentation in a timely manner, including attendance sheets, timesheets, progress notes, debit card reconciliation and receipts, etc.
Maintains CPR and First Aid certification (every two years) and other job requirements as necessary
Completes 6 professional development hours annually
Contact Program Coordinator if there are any changes in programming or consumer cancellations
Prepare yearly self-evaluation for supervisor and undergo an annual review process
Attends quarterly DSP/program meetings and other agency events as required
When necessary, drop off and pick up program supplies from storage unit or coordinator
Must take action, inform Director as soon as possible when:
an injury occurs during program activities/events
filing a neglect and abuse complaint
recording an unusual incident
Follows mandatory reporting procedures according to FRN and state protocols
Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or CEO
REQUIRMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school degree or GED
Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field preferred
Experience with supporting individuals with disabilities preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
If driving for the agency, a valid driver’s license, proper registration, insurance and satisfactory driver’s record required- these credentials must be maintained for initial and continued employment
Must submit to a criminal history review/ fingerprinting. All employment and continued employment are contingent upon receipt and maintenance of a satisfactory criminal records review/ fingerprint report.
