Department Overview

The Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation provides state-of-the-art care for patients with end stage liver disease, end stage renal disease, hepatobiliary and pancreaticobiliary disease, as well as patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The liver transplant program at OHSU continues to expand the volume of transplants while improving survival rates and outcomes. The Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation is active in research and education, and offers an ASTS transplant and hepatobiliary fellowship program.

Function/Duties of Position

Academic multi-organ transplant surgeon at the rank of Assistant Professor, who has completed a multi-organ ASTS approved fellowship and who is ABS certified or eligible. Must have a commitment to deceased and living donor kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation and multi-organ procurement. Practice in liver transplantation is not the focus of this position.

This position includes an academic appointment with the Department of Surgery in the OHSU School of Medicine and will be expected to contribute to the educational mission of the Department of Surgery, including participation in Department of Surgery teaching conferences, Grand Rounds, and the education of students, residents and fellows. The ideal candidate will have interest in the pursuit of scholarly activities to include research, which is most favorably represented as extramural funding, local, national and international presentations, and regular publication of original manuscripts in peer reviewed medical journals.

This position will also have contractual relationships with the Portland VA Medical Center and Cascade Life Alliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Degree conferred from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate of accredited general surgery residency program.
  • Completion of an ASTS approved fellowship.
  • DEA and Oregon and Washington Medical Board Licenses.
